I'm Janelle

I was elected to represent HD-19 in order to carry the voices of our District to Santa Fe. I am passionate about uplifting our community; Driving resources to those who need them most, supporting our working families, and investing in our children to create a better New Mexico. I thank you for your support as I continue to work toward improving our district.

My Story

I am the daughter of an immigrant, a proud Burqueña, and an even prouder Democrat. I was elected to make sure our rich and diverse community is represented in Santa Fe. I have been a leader in our Party and our community, working to elect progressive candidates up-and-down the ballot and pass critical anti-discrimination legislation in order to build a fairer and more just New Mexico.

I understand how the legislative process works and know how to get things done. I continue to work to represent the working families and small businesses of this district, secure affordable housing, fight for safe neighborhoods by addressing the root causes of crime and social ills, support and create good paying jobs, continue to work to make healthcare affordable, and drive much-needed infrastructure improvements in our district.

I was raised in Albuquerque and graduated from Manzano High School. I got my Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Sciences here in Albuquerque at Wayland Baptist and I am an active, longtime member of the choir at St. John's Episcopal. I am a member of the Commerce and Economic Development Committee and the Government, Elections, and Indian Affairs Committee.
